AAUW hosts luncheon for scholarship recipients

The AAUW Coastal-Georgetown branch recently awarded six $5,000 scholarships and one $2,500 scholarship, its highest total presented to date.

All student recipients qualified through solid academic records and proven leadership with a strong resume of community service. 

The Marty Johnson Memorial Scholarships were awarded to University of Delaware students Anna Beck and Anna Coverdale, University of Virginia student Darcy Crotty, and Ellianna Windsor, attending Palm Beach Atlantic University. All four are recent graduates of Cape Henlopen High School.

The Benson and Boyer Funds Scholarship was awarded to Eaknoor Kaur, a recent graduate of Sussex Academy who will be attending Carnegie Mellon University.

The Virginia Rust Future Educator Scholarship, named for the first president of AAUW Coastal Georgetown back in 1957, was awarded to Kathryn Meszaros, a graduate of Sussex Academy who will be attending Slippery Rock University.

The Heather Ann Worrall Scholarship went to Jessica Clark, who graduated from Delaware Technical Community College and will be attending Wilmington University to major in human resource management.

Guest speaker at the luncheon presentation was Prabh Kaur, who received an AAUW CG scholarship in 2022 and has completed her junior year at the University of Pennsylvania. She talked about her educational journey and provided valuable advice for scholarship winners.
