Agave gives away 1,000 burritos

May 5, 2020

Hundreds of people patiently waited six feet apart for a free burrito May 4 from popular Mexican restaurant Agave in downtown Lewes.

The line, at times, queued along Second Street, then down Bank Street nearly to the Post Office. Most in the crowd observed proper physical separation and wore masks, and several Lewes police officers monitored.

The line moved quickly, as Agave staff had burritos ready to go as people arrived at the front door. Agave co-owner Mike Firetti said the event was a thank you to the community that has been supportive during a difficult time.

The restaurant also accepted donations, with all proceeds going to local food pantries.
