Alfredo Rodriguez named assistant principal at Lewes Elementary

Longtime teacher takes on new role to expand reach
August 8, 2022

After 15 years as an elementary teacher, Alfredo Rodriguez has been named assistant principal at Lewes Elementary.

“My reach is further as an assistant principal,” he said. “I have potential to help more kids.”

After completing his student teaching at H.O. Brittingham Elementary in Milton, Rodriguez was hired at the school, where he taught for 15 years. In 2017, he moved to Love Creek Elementary, where he taught in the Spanish immersion program the past year, which he called a great experience.

Rodriguez earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Delaware State University and his master’s degree in school leadership from Wilmington University.

His parents, both born in Puerto Rico, emigrated to the United States before Rodriguez was born in Delaware; he spent his early childhood in Milton. Now, he lives in the greater Lewes area.

“I’m just excited to start with the staff,” he said. “They’re already enthusiastic about the new school building, and I want to share that with staff, students and families.”
