Aline M. ‘Tate’ Taylor, daycare operator

December 3, 2019

Aline M. “Tate” Taylor, 82, of Dagsboro passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at her home.

She was born in Millsboro April 7, 1937, daughter of the late John E. Jones and the late Viola B. (Donaway) Jones.  Aline worked for over 20 years at J&P Food Market for John and Pauline Rickards, who became an extension of her family.  She then opened Tate’s Loving Care which was a home daycare she operated for 19 years before her retirement in 2000.

Aline loved being around children and all of her daycare children were like her grandchildren.  On average she watched nine children a day and would always cook them a homemade meal.  Christmas was also her favorite time of the year where she would always hold a Christmas party for the daycare children.  She will be fondly remembered for her excellent baking and cooking skills.  Those that knew “Tate” will remember her delicious fudge and treats that she would bake and give out during the holidays. Tate’s laugh was unmistakable and contagious, and will be sorely missed by all those that loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl J. Taylor in 2017.  She is survived by her three children, Connie Cooper and her husband Tom of Dagsboro, Butch Taylor and his wife Sherry of Seaford, and Debbie Daisey and her husband Tom of Millsboro; and three grandchildren, Chad Taylor of Millsboro, Brandon Taylor of Stevensville, Md., and Jessee Taylor of Centerville, Md.  Aline is also survived by a sister, Delores McClintock of Roxana; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Millsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Aline’s name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
