All my favorites need to step up their game!

Golf:
This past weekend, the PGA Championship was very exciting to watch and Brooks Koepka was ultimately the 1st place finisher. There were multiple players who had the chance to win right up to the end. Koepka is very capable of winning a lot more events on the tour, but he needs to be careful in terms of how much he works out in the gym.

He looks more like a football player than a golfer and we have seen what those extreme fitness levels can do to haunt the pros over the past few years. I'm all for the improved fitness regimens, but it requires really knowledgeable trainers who focus on the unique dynamics of what a golf swing does to the body.

I was very impressed with how many people came out to watch the event over the whole week. It might have been one of the largest crowds to attend a golf tournament. I'm sure Tiger's recent finishes (even though not first place) have boosted attendance and this tournament was a good showing of his rather remarkable return.

Tiger is definitely back in contention to win another Major. He needs to drive the ball more consistently to secure that possibility because watching him on Sunday was like watching a magician. It's fun to see that kind of skill and ingenuity but straight down the middle of the fairway is just as good.

Baseball:
In the past week, the Philadelphia Phillies' offense was pretty much nonexistent! Because of this, they have fallen behind the Atlanta Braves into second place in the division. In two of the games in that series, they got shut out altogether. This is incredibly unfair to the pitchers as they can't possibly be expected to carry the team to the playoffs with no run support.

Thankfully, there's been a sign of this drought ending and it was against the best team in baseball right now, the Boston Red Sox. Scoring 7 runs to beat them 7-4 was a great surprise and relief but then another crazy loss with the Mets 24-4 and then flipped the switch again in that double header and won 9-6. Quite a rollercoaster!

Football:
The Philadelphia Eagles second preseason game was a clanker! With a score of 31-7 at halftime, you would never have believed they are the defending Super Bowl champs. Nick Foles' predicted appearance at the start of the game shows he is fine but Nate Sudfeld's efforts didn't impress me at all. I know it's just a preseason game, but the entire team seemed disinterested.

With only 2 more preseason games, you would think that the new players would have wanted to play to impress their coaches. A 180 is needed by their first regular season game on September 6th against the Atlanta Falcons.

See you on the sidelines!
