Amazon sends small business owner to Washington, D.C.

Local entrepreneur Jenny McMillan, president of JennyGems, was selected by Amazon to represent small businesses nationwide and to share accomplishments with federal policymakers. McMillan joined Amazon for Prime Day activities in Washington, D.C., July 17.

That day, McMillan met directly with government officials and congressional staff members including Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, Sen. Tom Carper, Rep. Dwight Evans, Rep. Robert Brady, and Rep. Frank LoBiondo. McMillan also met with staff members of Sen. Chris Coons. 

McMillan and her husband Dave began selling antiques and collectibles out of their home to supplement their household income. Eventually, the couple launched the JennyGems product line.

JennyGems is a fast-growing online home and party décor brand. The company strives to create products that have a positive impact on customers’ lives. JennyGems creates innovative ways to celebrate milestones, people, pets and experiences.

The company expanded its business operations by opening a brick-and-mortar outlet store in Harbeson. The business has also created a charitable product line that benefits cancer research.
