American College Delaware opens office in Lewes

The American College Delaware has opened an Office for Planning and Development on Savannah Road in Lewes.

The college has plans to establish a residential four-year institution in Sussex County offering programs in the liberal arts, performing arts and international business.

The plans are to establish an advisory committee comprised of local citizens to assist the trustees in the strategic and long range planning. Dr. Rory McEntegart, academic dean and President Donald Ross have already been holding initial meetings with several prominent Sussex County individuals.

The American College Delaware is a constituent college of the Irish American University which has for the past 20 years operated the American College Dublin, a not for profit, liberal arts, coeducational international institution located in the in the heart of Dublin, the capital of Ireland which is the gateway to the European Union.

The student body consists of individuals from all over the world who enter into a truly multicultural environment.

The American College in Delaware will also attract an international student body as well as students from all parts of the United States. The college will create a nurturing environment that encourages each student to become the best he or she can be.

“Sussex County is an ideal location for an small international institution since it will be located halfway between New York and Washington, D,C.,” says Ross “Ireland is the ‘Gateway to Europe’ and our campus in Dublin allows our students to visit many countries while studying there. The Delaware campus will provide the opportunity for students to live and learn in a historic part of America.”

Over the past few years, many students from the American College Dublin have already been taking summer courses in Delaware. Alumni from many parts of Europe and Asia have commented that this was one of the highlights of their educational experience.

Students who attend the American College in Delaware will be able to spend time at both campuses during the four years of study.

The college will begin offering courses in September 2014.
