Artist Alexis McKenzie, Rehoboth Beach resident, presented paintings during the opening reception at a(Muse.) restaurant July 5, and the show will hang until July 31.
In her current collection, she is using alcohol watercolor tints on Yupo paper and painting vibrant waterscapes, sea life and impressionistic abstracts. She began painting by using her children’s Crayola paint set. Her signature piece for the current show is called She Got Her Wings and is the name of the show. It has special meaning that is empowering and freeing of her creative spirit. “Art is in my blood. If I am not creating, I feel as if I am not nourishing my soul.”
