Aquacare physical therapists earn certification through specialized training

April 2, 2016

Aquacare Physical Therapy recently announced the following Aquacare physical therapists have received pelvic floor/incontinence specialized training: Pam Kline, Lewes office; Malisa Ochotnicky, DPT, Millville office; and Amanda Muir, PTA, Salisbury and Ocean Pines, Md. offices.

All three therapists received specialized training with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, receiving certification in Pelvic Floor Evaluation and Treatment Interventions. This has provided them with the knowledge to provide individual treatment programs for urinary incontinence, organ prolapse and urogynecologic pain syndromes such as chronic pelvic pain, vulvar pain, and interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.

Aquacare's pelvic floor physical therapy specialists can help patients with urinary/fecal incontinence, organ prolapse and chronic pelvic pain.

Treatment includes:

• Instruction in individualized pelvic floor exercises

• Biofeedback for muscle re-education

• Bladder retraining

• Education on dietary management.

In-house data collection indicates that patients experience a 30 percent to 40 percent reduction in symptoms after four weeks of therapy and up to 85 percent improvement if compliant with therapy.

Aquacare Physical Therapy has locations throughout Delaware, including Millsboro, Millville, Lewes, Seaford and Georgetown, and Maryland including Salisbury (two offices), Easton, and Annapolis.
