Atlantic Community Thrift Shop donated $10,000 to New Hope, a service of Delaware Hospice. The thrift shop has been supporting Delaware Hospice, specifically New Hope, for the past 13 years.
New Hope is a free program to serve children and teens during their time of grief. Since 1990, counselors have provided support, counseling and education to nearly 10,000 children, teens and their families through a variety of free workshops, support groups, individual counseling and a summer camp.
"When children and teens experience the death of a loved one, their sets of needs are different from adults," said Sondra Satterfield, MSW, LCSW, manager of family support service. "Children and teens grieve at their development level and must navigate a range of emotions, including fear, anxiety and insecurity. As they grow, they learn ways to process and cope with their loss."
Atlantic Community Thrift Shop in Ocean View provides food, clothes and shelter for the less fortunate on the Eastern Shore of Delaware. The shop accepts and sells furniture, clothing, jewelry, appliances, linens, shoes, housewares, books and toys.
