Bath, Kitchen & Tile Center celebrates 50 years
The recipe for success at the Bath, Kitchen & Tile Center is its one-stop shop approach, said the company's Sales Manager Mark Gandy.
The business, celebrating its 50th year, has made a name for itself in the Mid-Atlantic kitchen and bath industry. Based out of Wilmington, the company has showrooms in Newark, the Prices Corner area of Wilmington and on Route 9 in Harbeson. A new showroom is planned for Bel Air, Md., within the next year, Gandy said.
“We service and install what we sell,” he said. “So whether it's a builder or homeowner looking to do a remodeling project, we're a one-stop shop. They get everything they need from us from the design phase through the completion of the project.”
The kitchen and bath industry is niche, he said, and most companies specialize in one aspect of a project, meaning they sell cabinets but do not install them or install cabinets but do not sell them. By offering the whole package, he said, the company can take full responsibility for the finished product.
“We truly believe we're not selling price, we're selling service,” he said.
The business was founded by Jack and Pauline Campbell in 1963 as a tile distribution company. The Campbells' sons Steve, Bob and John eventually got involved with the family business and helped expand it into what it is today.
Among the services available through Bath, Kitchen & Tile are wholesale sales and installation of cabinets, countertops, appliances and other related items; residential remodeling of kitchen, bathrooms and other cabinetry-related rooms; and commercial remodeling at doctor's and dentist's offices, among others.
Jack died more than 10 years ago, but the company remains in the hands of his youngest son Bob Campbell, who serves as president. Bob's son Richard is also involved with the business as the operations manager of the manufacturing division. Pauline and Steve Campbell are each semi-retired, but still involved with the company in minor capacities, while John Campbell is retired.
The company employs more than 60 people and services portions of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.
