Beach movies and bonfires a continued success in Dewey

July 28, 2021

The movies and bonfires in Dewey Beach, provided by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, have been a major success this summer.

Crowds of 200-300 people are enjoying the evening events on the beach. The chamber thanks Weis Markets, movies and bonfires sponsor, for supporting these weekly events and allowing the movies to keep rolling and the bonfires to keep burning.

Parking is free in Dewey Beach from 5 to 11 p.m., Monday to Wednesday.

Movies start at approximately 8:30 p.m., Mondays on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue in Dewey Beach. Movie admission is donation-based. Attendees can bring their own beach chairs.

  • Aug. 2, “Tom and Jerry” (2021)
  • Aug. 9, “Finding Nemo”
  • Aug. 16, “Raya and the Last Dragon”

Bonfires on the beach are held from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays at Dagsworthy Avenue. A donation of $1 gets roasters a marshmallow, and sticks can be borrowed for roasting. Upcoming bonfire dates are Aug. 4 and Aug. 11.

These events are weather-dependent. In the event of inclement weather, cancellations will be determined no later than 7 p.m. on movie dates and 6 p.m. on bonfire dates.

Notice of cancellation will be posted to the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce Instagram and Facebook pages. For an after-hours recording, call the chamber at 302-227-2233.

Staff will notify Dewey Beach accommodations of cancellations made prior to the start of an event. If weather is clear, events will take place as scheduled but may end early due to weather conditions.
