ON THE COVER: Historic Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse (red) and Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse (white) are among the most recognized landmarks in the Cape Region. Both are located on protective breakwaters that create the Harbor of Refuge off the coast of Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes. The breakwater lighthouse, currently undergoing exterior renovation, dates back to 1885 and was decommissioned in 1966. The refuge lighthouse, which dates back to 1926, was automated in 1973 and is still maintained as a navigational aid by the U.S. Coast Guard.
