Beebe Healthcare adds four gastroenterology specialists
The need for gastroenterology services is growing across Sussex County, and Beebe Healthcare is responding by continuously expanding its line of skilled physicians and advanced practice clinicians who specialize in this area of medicine. The organization recently welcomed three physicians to Beebe Gastroenterology Lewes and one advanced practice clinician to Beebe Gastroenterology Millville.
Sujay Alvencar, MD, is a hepatologist and general gastroenterologist who treats patients with a wide range of complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. He is experienced in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatic disorders, and also provides care for patients preparing for liver transplant surgery. He is committed to providing each patient with a comprehensive plan of care designed to address their medical issues while improving their quality of life.

Geoffrey Braden, MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF, is a gastroenterologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases of the gastrointestinal tract including inflammatory bowel disease, severe refractory irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, cirrhosis and advanced Crohn’s disease.
Braden also provides comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with chronic liver disease, including those who are preparing for and recovering from liver transplant surgery. As they are undergoing treatment for their medical issues, many patients also rely on Braden for nutrition guidance, and dietary management and support, including those who require central hyperalimentation, a life-sustaining therapy that provides nutrition intravenously.

Homayoon Mahjoob, MD, MSPH, is a gastroenterologist who specializes in advanced interventional endoscopy, with focus on diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal tumors and hepatopancreatobiliary diseases. He provides care for patients who have been admitted to the hospital, working as part of a multidisciplinary care team that provides treatment for gastrointestinal cancer patients and serving as a key consultant for complex gastroenterology cases such as pancreatic cancer and hepatobiliary disease. Brianna Brancato, MSPAS, PA-C, is a physician assistant who treats adult patients diagnosed with a wide range of acute and chronic gastrointestinal issues. She plays an essential role as patients seek treatment aimed at managing symptoms and improving their quality of life.
Brancato reviews medical history, conducts physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, and supports the development of treatment plans customized to the unique needs of each patient. Brancato also emphasizes the importance and value of patient education.
