Beebe installs advanced model MRI
Beebe Healthcare recently acquired a new 1.5 Tesla MRI system at the Lewes campus, assuring that patients who require imaging services have access to the most advanced technology as they are receiving care.
The $1.3 million investment in magnetic resonance imaging was fully funded by Beebe Medical Foundation as a result of gifts made to the hospital by local businesses and generous individuals whose support strengthens Beebe every day.
“When leadership expressed an imminent need for a new MRI, the foundation was able to answer quickly, thanks to grateful patients and community partners who have made philanthropic gifts to the hospital over time,” said Kay Young, executive director of development for the foundation. “Our ability to make this investment truly underscores the value of community support, and we are so grateful for those who choose to give back, empowering us to deliver excellent care throughout Sussex County.”
Beebe’s diagnostic imaging team installed the new MRI system in November, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. The advanced model delivers a host of benefits, including a broader range of imaging exams, significantly faster scan times, and a detachable table that simplifies care for patients arriving on stretchers. Most importantly, the system produces exceptionally high-resolution images, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
“The resolution of the images produced by this machine is superior,” said Josh Wyatt, MBA, RT(R), CRA, director of diagnostic imaging at Beebe. “It is no secret that the equipment we need to do our jobs and provide the best possible care for patients is expensive. It is amazing to know the hospital was able to make this investment in large part because of the support we have received from members of our community.”
