Beebe Primary Care Five Points welcomes two clinicians
Beebe Healthcare recently welcomed two new family medicine clinicians who offer comprehensive primary care services for patients of all ages, from birth through the geriatric years.
Kallie Fehr, MD, and Mia McCarthy, PA-C, will see patients at Beebe Primary Care Five Points. For more information, call 302-291-6050.
Fehr is a primary care physician who focuses on management of chronic diseases and addresses acute-care issues as patients visit her office with more urgent healthcare needs. She spends a lot of time talking with patients about preventive care and steps they can take to optimize their personal health.
Fehr has a specialized interest in women’s health, including delivery of pediatric and adolescent healthcare services. She is passionate about community health and is always looking for opportunities to provide care for underserved populations. Fehr earned her medical degree and a master of public health degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her residency training with focus on family medicine at ChristianaCare Health System in Newark.
While pursuing her medical education and post-graduate training, Fehr devoted time to clinical research at the Dornsife School of Public Health and Hahnemann University Hospital, both in Philadelphia. She presented her findings at numerous institutional and regional conferences, supporting the advancement of primary care and internal medicine practices, quality and safety initiatives, and problem-based learning in medical education environments.
“I visited the Delaware beach towns frequently for vacation as I was growing up and decided to make Sussex County my home after my family relocated to this area,” said Fehr, who is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians. “I am proud to be part of Beebe’s medical staff and to have the opportunity to serve a community I have grown to love through my personal experiences here.”
McCarthy is a physician assistant who supports the delivery of primary care services for both children and adults at Beebe. She treats acute health issues as well as chronic diseases, with a focus on helping each patient optimize their overall health and well-being.
McCarthy holds a master of physician assistance science degree from Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania, where she also earned a bachelor of science degree in health sciences with a minor in healthcare management.
While pursuing her education, McCarthy gained clinical experience in a wide range of medical specialties including women’s health, pediatrics, wound care, cardiology, emergency medicine, surgery, behavioral medicine, internal medicine and family practice. McCarthy also gained leadership experience through active membership in the Physician Assistant Student Society and Delta Phi Epsilon.
“I am passionate about working with families,” McCarthy said. “My goal is to help patients achieve good health, and one way I do that is through promoting the importance of preventive care. Annual physicals and screenings are important, and I want patients to understand what they should be scheduling based on their age, gender, personal and family medical history, and lifestyle.”
