Biden expected to be at North Shores home Jan. 20 - 23

Will be the first visit to his beach home since $500,000 wall around property was completed
January 20, 2023

President Joe Biden is expected to be at his North Shores home outside Rehoboth Beach for the weekend, beginning Friday, Jan. 20.

According to the Week Ahead Guidance and Press Schedule from the White House issued Monday, Jan. 16, the president would be arriving in Rehoboth sometime on Friday “where he will remain over the weekend.”

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a restricted flight area notice Jan. 18 that goes into effect for the Rehoboth Beach area at 5:45 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, and ends at 10:15 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23.

It’s the president’s first visit to Rehoboth since this fall and the first since a $500,000 security wall around his home has been completed.

Prior to coming to Rehoboth, according to the daily guidance, Biden will welcome bipartisan mayors attending the U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting to the White House.

A reminder of security measures taken when Biden is in town:

  • Gordons Pond users should expect restrictions. The park’s parking lot is just around the corner from Biden’s home and is used as a landing site for Marine Force One
  • The FAA’s temporary flight restrictions limit use of the airspace from Dover south to Ocean City, Md.; and west to the Maryland border
  • The Coast Guard establishes security zones in the ocean area immediately in front of North Shores beach and in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.

Since Biden was elected president, he has attended church, walked on the beach and gone for a few bike rides while in Rehoboth Beach. If he does so on this trip, send photos to reporter Chris Flood at
