Board & Brush Creative Studio to host celebration Sept. 28

Board & Brush Creative Studio will host a grand opening celebration from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 30447 Cedar Neck Road, Unit 2, Ocean View.

The first 50 guests will receive gift bags with coupons, and everyone can enter for a chance to win a VIP sign-making party for six valued at more than $400. Attendees can enjoy light refreshments, and a table will be set up to illustrate sign-making steps. The celebration is free and open to the public, with no RSVP necessary.

Board & Brush offers instructor-led workshops, with attendees guided through the ins and outs of power tools, paint, stencil art and assembly. All materials are supplied by the studio. Each workshop lasts about three hours and costs $73-$78 depending on needed supplies, with preregistration required. 

Local owner Rachel Wells offers words of encouragement for those new to DIY projects. “I have told so many people who think this is out of their wheelhouse to think again, because everywhere you look there are lots of ideas covering the walls,” said Wells. The studio is decorated from floor to ceiling with sample signs to get the creative juices flowing. “Still, the finished sign will be your own because you make it by hand, and since you’re painting with a stencil it’s nearly error-proof,” she said.

Wells said she looks forward to hosting fundraising workshops for local charities, with Delaware Special Olympics near and dear to her fiancée. Area nonprofits interested in hosting their own fundraising workshop are invited to contact the studio directly.
