Bollywood comes to Georgetown

October 27, 2011

A taste of India came to Georgetown Oct. 18 when four Bollywood dancers took over the stage at Delaware Technical Community College. Sanskriti Inamdar, founder of Ishanya Dance Company, led a class on Bollywood dancing and offered a presentation to the small audience about India's culture and population.

"I have been dancing for 25 years and choreographing for 15; I have always wanted to share these experiences with the public," said Inamdar. "When I first moved to Delaware in 1994, people were not really aware of Indian culture, but they are more today. I am happy to have the opportunity to bring this culture to the American community."

For more information about Ishanya or to join dance classes, go to www.ishanyadance.com or call 302-494-9791.

Shown dancing a traditional Indian dance are (l-r) Ajeeta Patil, Tina Tandel, Seema Bhatlekar and Inamdar.
