Botanic gardens free admission to benefit food bank April 22

April 19, 2021

Delaware Botanic Gardens will offer free admission to visitors who bring a nonperishable food donation to be given to the Food Bank of Delaware on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22.

“Come celebrate Earth Day by spending time at one of America’s newest public gardens and help those in our community during this time of need,” said Ray Sander, DBG president.

“Free admission in exchange for one of the food bank’s priority items listed below is a beautiful way to enjoy the natural beauty of DBG on Earth Day and to offer a helping hand to one of our region’s most respected nonprofits. The Food Bank of Delaware is playing a key role in helping feed Delaware families in need,” said Sheryl Swed, DBG executive director.

Delaware Food Bank priority food items include hot and cold cereals, peanut butter, canned fruits, canned meats, 8 oz. shelf-stable milk, canned vegetables and spaghetti sauce.

COVID-19 restrictions are in place at the gardens, and advance reservations are required.

For more information and to make advance reservations for free admission, go to delawaregardens.org or call 302-321-9061.

Delaware Botanic Gardens is located at 30220 Piney Neck Road, Dagsboro.
