Award-winning Broadway actress Judy McLane visited Cape High March 6 to hold a workshop for theater students.

“If you’re having fun, the audience is having fun. If you’re not, they’re not,” she told students rehearsing a scene from “Mamma Mia!”

McLane has performed in more than 4,000 Broadway shows of Mamma Mia!, starring as Donna Sheridan for more than three years, and as Tanya for more than seven years, making her the longest-running lead in “Mamma Mia!” history.

McLane worked with students on breathing exercises to improve their singing voices and vocal projection, boosting their confidence for upcoming performances.

Originally from Olyphant, Pa., McLane is a family friend of Cape High Assistant Principal Kyle Bentley. Her visit was funded by Cape Henlopen Instrumental Music Boosters, Elizabeth Andros, Yvonne and Walter Cerra, and Grace and John Bliley.
