CAMP Rehoboth holds open house

February 24, 2024

CAMP Rehoboth highlighted several major renovation projects during a Feb. 15 open house.

Work done included new gabled and flat roofs and gutters on 37 Baltimore Ave.; an enhanced security system featuring cameras and an alert mode for the entire campus; installation of solar panels with 50% reduced utility costs; all interior lighting replaced with new, energy-efficient LED fixtures; new carpeting throughout 37 Baltimore Ave. offices; 11 new fiberglass and insulated exterior doors; a permanent lighting and sound system in the Elkins-Archibald Atrium; new kitchen, bathroom and carpeting in the apartment at 39 Baltimore Ave.; and totally remodeled courtyard community bathrooms.

Renovations have been made possible by the Community Reinvestment Fund's Bond Bill, from which CAMP Rehoboth was allocated $460,000. These projects provide a more welcoming environment for the community center's programs and services. They will also allow CAMP Rehoboth to be more sound, safe and sustainable.

"CAMP Rehoboth Community Center provides tangible value as a gathering place for support, connection and celebration, and as a hub for a wide range of programs and activities. The repairs in this project will ensure that CAMP Rehoboth space is structurally sound, safe and sustainable," said Kim Leisey, CAMP Rehoboth executive director.
