May 18, 2023

The Cape Henlopen school board recognized Mariner and Beacon middle school teachers and substitutes at its monthly meeting April 27.

Beacon Middle substitute teacher Adrienne Fyock performs wonderfully in any role from music to math, said school board member Janet Maull-Martin.

Beacon Middle paraeducator AJ Jones goes out of his way to help students in any way, said Maull-Martin.

Mariner Middle specialized setting teacher Rachael Johnston took the lead in revamping the specialized-setting program and ensures all of her students are able to push into mainstream classes in every class.

Mariner Middle substitute teacher Gary Yettner is a floating sub who has taken on multiple long-term substitute positions for two years, said Maull-Martin.

Each month, the district recognizes employees at one school building for their outstanding work in “Going the Extra Mile.” GEM award winners receive a certificate and gift card courtesy of the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation.
