Cape boys’ tennis slams Lake, Dover 5-0

The Cape boys’ tennis squad moved to 8-3 on the season with a pair of 5-0 wins over Lake Forest May 6 and Dover May 7.

Nathaniel Hoang won his first-singles match against Lake’s Michael Druart 6-0, 6-0, then won a hard-fought 6-1, 7-5 match over Dover’s Cole Foster. At second singles, Trent Kauffman topped the Spartans’ Dylan Ross 6-1, 6-2, before taking down Dover’s Jaylen Hodges 6-2, 6-1 the next day. In third-singles action, Cape’s Naden Sullivan cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Lake Forest’s Arthur Hamilton, then battled the Senators’ Brandon Diaz-Maldonado to a 6-2, 6-3 win. 

In doubles play, Cape duo Krish Prattipati and Caidan Juliano took down Lake’s Angel and Carlos Herrera-Perez 6-0, 6-2, then defeated Dover’s Joel Guy and Jordan Mapp by the same score. Cape’s second-doubles team of Brody Trewartha and Michael Gordon earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lake’s Jeffrey Ledford and Bennet Surdukowski, then shut out Dover’s London Mickens and Nathan Kline the next day. 

Cape will join the other Henlopen teams for the conference championships May 9-10 at Caesar Rodney.
