Cape boys’ lax sinks the Bucs 15-4

March 26, 2026

The Cape boys’ lacrosse team took its first step in the 2026 season with a 15-4 victory over the Bucs at Briggs Stadium in Milford.

The Vikings scored the first eight goals of the game and cruised to an 11-2 first-half lead before garnering a running-clock victory in the second half.

The Vikings took 41 shots on goal. Senior Brenner Short scored four goals. Sophomore AJ Grapski and senior Grant Conway tallied three goals and two assists each. Braddock Smith and Patrick Healy hit the twine twice, with Smith picking up two helpers. Long pole sophomore Jaxson Holgerson blasted a goal past the Milford keeper and had an assist in the game.

“Overall, the boys played well,” said Cape coach Geoff Shupard. “But there are things to improve on. I thought we started slow and got a little sloppy on both sides of the ball in the second quarter. The boys responded and got a good win tonight. I give a lot of credit to Milford; they play hard and have improved over this past off-season. We will get back to work tomorrow and get ready for Sts. Peter and Paul on Friday.”

Milford senior Ty Mackert and junior Ashten Furry each scored twice for the Bucs.

The Vikings JV team scored a 7-2 victory over the Bucs in the night’s early action.

Milford travels to St. Andrews Friday, March 27, while Cape travels to Sts. Peter and Paul.
