Cape community rocks socks for World Down Syndrome Day

April 11, 2020

Despite the school closure in effect, students and staff throughout the Cape Henlopen School District celebrated World Down Syndrome Day’s Rock Your Socks, by doing so virtually.

Rock Your Socks is a global event that aims to raise awareness and help create a single voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome in schools, the community and around the world. To do that, families, students, staff and even pets were involved in wearing crazy and silly socks for the day.

Each year, the same date, 3/21, is used to recognize World Down Syndrome Day, as it signifies the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which leads to Down syndrome.
