Cape grad receives Milton Garden Club scholarship

August 6, 2018

The Milton Garden Club presents two $3,000 scholarships each year to students in the Cape Henlopen School District or to returning students at Delaware Tech. The scholarship winner must major in the fields of horticulture, agriculture, plant science or a related science. This year, Cassidy Best was the high school graduate scholarship recipient.

Best graduated from Cape Henlopen High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, HOSA-Future Health Professionals, FCA and Leo Club. In 2016-17 she was secretary of the school's FFA, and she served as its president for 2017-18.

In community activities, Best won numerous awards in 4-H and at the Delaware State Fair including the 4-H Livestock Show, First Place Showman and the 2016 Delaware State Fair Grand Champion Nigerian Dwarf Goat.

Best comes from a farming background and is very passionate about having a career in agriculture/education. She said, "Giving back to my community has been a huge part of my upbringing, and I hope that I can continue the legacy of both farming and education."

Best will soon be leaving to begin her studies at University of Delaware, and Milton Garden Club members wish her great success.
