Cape Henlopen High School theatre students returned with outstanding results from the 2026 New Jersey Thespian Festival, an annual regional celebration of high school theatre that brings together students for workshops, performances and competitive events.
Demonstrating the dedication, creativity and teamwork of Cape Henlopen students and faculty, the delegation earned a Silver Honor Troupe designation, the highest honor awarded to any Delaware troupe at this year’s festival.
Among individual achievements, six Cape High students earning superior scores for their events were Adriana Williams, Willow DiMichele and Mairin Curran for their musical theatre solos; Ruby Manos and Julia LaCrette for their acting duet; and Noah Lewis with a superior score for playwriting. Notably, Lewis was one of only two students to have his original play staged at the festival.
In addition to competition success, several students were recognized for their leadership within the broader theatre community. In recognition of their exemplary work as state thespian officers throughout the past year, Noah Lewis, Skylar Jamele and Izzy Windsor were named Delaware All-State Thespians.
“We are incredibly proud of our Cape Henlopen theatre students and the dedication they showed at the New Jersey Thespian Festival,” said Kristin DeGregory, principal. “Their achievements reflect not only exceptional talent, but also the hard work, collaboration and leadership that define our performing arts program.”
Cape Henlopen’s theatre program was further honored with faculty recognition when Sadie Andros, Cape theatre director, was named Outstanding Theatre Educator for Delaware, highlighting both her instructional excellence and commitment to student growth.
“I am honored by this recognition, but the true joy of the weekend was watching our students shine,” said Andros. “Their talent, dedication and willingness to support one another made this experience incredibly meaningful. Seeing them grow as artists and leaders is what makes this work so rewarding.”
At the festival, students had the opportunity to engage in a range of educational workshops, performances and networking with peers from New Jersey and beyond, strengthening their skills and celebrating the art of theatre with fellow young artists.
