It was a Senior Night rivalry game at Legends Stadium April 28 between two of Delaware’s top-rated boys’ lacrosse teams. But it proved to be not much of a game, as Cape Henlopen surged to a 13-1 halftime lead over Caesar Rodney, then cruised home for an 18-4 victory.

The Vikings got hat tricks from Gabe Best, Hank D’Ambrogi, Mikey Frederick and Blake Gipko. Single goals were scored by Jaden Davis, Will Bragg, Jack Schell, Andrew Wolak, Cody Trivitts and Hunter Jones.

Assist leaders for Cape were Best with four, Frederick and D’Ambrogi with two and Jake Truitt with one. Goalie saves were Michael Sposato and Carson Kammerer with three each.

The Riders’ goal scorers were Jackson Spino with two, and Clay Friend and Hunter Christensen with one each.

CR goalie saves were Jakob Buxton with four and Dylan Bennett with five.

Cape improved to 7-3 on the season with home games versus Sussex Central set for 6 p.m., Friday, April 30, and Tower Hill at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1.

The Riders fell to 7-2 and will host Archmere Friday night, then play at undefeated Sanford Monday, May 3.
