The Cape softball squad faced its former assistant coach Sean Brennan May 4 and gave a good showing, defeating Milford 9-6 at Bill Cordrey Field.

Cape sophomore Alivia Heers, coming back from a leg injury, delivered in the designated hitter role, going 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and seven RBIs.

Hayden Hudson and Ava Calciano each had a triple, while Jay’Lyn Slater slammed a double.

Abby Marsh went the distance in the circle, scattering 12 hits and striking out two.

Lauren Dickerson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Bucs. Jaeda Marsh went 2-for-4 with a homer, while Adrionna Fountain went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

“It was a good win for us,” said Cape coach Mike Tkach. “We continued to battle all game long. We hit the ball hard and ran the bases well. It was tough because coach Brennan worked with these girls for two years, so he had a plan, but they worked through it. Alivia had a great day hitting, accounting for seven RBIs, and Abby Marsh pitched very well. We’ve got to keep momentum going.”
