Cape swimming celebrates Senior Night, wins big

January 22, 2026

The Cape swim teams honored the Class of 2026 with a boys’ 101-46 win and a girls’ 109-28 victory over Dover Jan. 19 at the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach.

Each squad won 8-of-11 events to remain undefeated this season. Full results can be found at www.capevikingssports.com.

“It was fun seeing people swim events they don’t normally do to give the seniors more opportunities,” said junior Hayden Hazzard. “Everyone was very enthusiastic during the meet after the senior ceremony.”

“I thought the meet went really well,” said senior Riley Cathcart. “It will give us good momentum as we prepare for our meet in North Carolina. It was nice to see the younger swimmers step up and help out since many of our older swimmers were unable to attend yesterday’s meet.”

The Vikings traveled to North Carolina for a Jan. 22 meet at Charles E. Jordan Senior High School in Durham.
