Cape teacher and writing fellowship winner to speak Jan. 9
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library will present Writing the Compelling Story: Craft Talk and Reading with Michael Kardos at 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, at 226 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
Kardos, an English instructor at Cape Henlopen High School and a 2024 Individual Artist Fellowship recipient, will lead an interactive craft talk and reading as he discusses key elements that contribute to the most compelling fiction. What makes some stories truly gripping rather than merely competent? Novelists and short story writers can expect to leave this talk with valuable tools they can apply to get their writing moving in 2025.
Kardos is the author of the novels “Bluff,” “Before He Finds Her” and “The Three-Day Affair,” along with the story collection, “One Last Good Time” and a textbook, The Art and Craft of Fiction: A Writer’s Guide. His short stories have appeared in One Story, The Southern Review and Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, and have won two Pushcart Prizes.
