January 29, 2015

Senior Jordan Howell scored a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Cape boys' basketball team defeated a tough Sussex Central squad 65-59 Jan. 27.

Ryan Thornberg led the scoring with 13 points while J.R. Yeates put in 11. Freshman Ian Robertson scored 9 while Demetrius Price and Drew Mulcahy had 8 and 7, respectively. David Kwan and Kyle Orton finished out the Vikings' scoring with 3 and 2 points.

"We played really well in the first half and were able to sustain it throughout the game," said Cape coach Steve Re. "Our turnovers were down, had four guys score in double figures, and we had solid contributions from the whole squad."

"Coach Re pointed out to us that when we are in double figures with assists, we would win," said Howell. "We had 13."

Richard Flemming, Amontay Clanton and Arron Spady teamed up to score 42 points for the Golden Knights.

The 6-8 Vikings travel to Caesar Rodney Friday, Jan. 30, for a Northern Division matchup with the Riders.
