Carney gets his own flavor at Hopkins Farm Creamery

June 18, 2019

Gov. John Carney visited Hopkins Farm Creamery June 7 for a taste of a new flavor named for him.

Carney rolled in to the creamery on his third stop of the day on his Highlight the Summer Tourism Season tour. Carney first visited Killens Pond State Park and played a few holes of disc golf. Next, he and his entourage went over to the Crooked Hammock Brewery for a quick tour.

Agritourism is a major contributor to Delaware’s tourism industry. Hopkins Creamery provides a clear look for the public to see what goes into the making of the ice cream.

“The most important thing is that it gives residents some great and wholesome products,” said Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse when asked about the importance of creameries in Delaware.

“I like banana,” the governor said after he was asked to choose the flavors that would go into his new ice cream. The new flavor, Governor Carney’s Special, includes banana-flavored ice cream with strawberry chunks mixed in. The new flavor is available for a limited time only - this summer.
