Carole Jean Dunn, retired public defender

Carole Jean Dunn, Esq., 70, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.  She was born Nov. 28, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisc., daughter of the late John Norman and Anna Zetich Dunn.

Ms. Dunn retired in 2013 after 10 years with the Public Defender’s Office in Georgetown.  She received her bachelor's degree from George Washington University in 1974 and her law degree from Georgetown University in 1978. During her years of study she worked for the Washington, D.C. office of former U.S. Sen. Proxmire of Wisconsin and for Gov. Mario Cuomo’s Washington office. She loved to cook, enjoyed traveling and was an ardent lover of dachshunds, especially her beloved Champion Winner Atticus.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Lionel Hudson Luxich Jr.; two stepchildren, Scott L. Luxich of Redmond, Wash. and Christine Aman and husband David of San Antonio, Texas.; two sisters, Sandy Wolff and husband Jerry of Brookfield, Wisc. and Judi Steinhardt and her husband Michael of Pewaukee, Wisc.; one brother Robert Dunn and wife Robin of Deale, Md.; and four stepgrandchildren, Hudson and Chase Luxich and Lincoln and Aja Aman.

A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m., at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where viewing will be held from 7 to 8 p.m.  Burial will be private.
