Carolyn W.C. Fogerty, beloved wife, mother
Carolyn W.C. Fogerty, 97, formerly of Berwyn, Pa., and Lewes, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, in Chandler, Ariz. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Walter Puphal and Gertrude Cullen, and was also raised by her beloved late stepfather, Thomas Cullen.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Maureen) Fogerty of Evanston, Ill., and James Fogerty of Chandler, Ariz.; her daughters, Patricia Grossman of Milford and Margaret (Mark) Memoli of Pottstown, Pa.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Barbara) Cullen and Kenneth (Gaye) Puphal. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Fogerty (2014); her brother, Robert Puphal, and sister, Joyce Swanick.
Carolyn, a graduate of the Albany Academy for Girls (N.Y.), was an accomplished pianist and organist, studying initially under her mother’s instruction and then at the Troy (N.Y.) and Oberlin (Ohio) Conservatories. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Musical Coterie of Wayne (Pa.). Along with having her own piano students through the years, she was also a sought-after substitute and interim organist at many churches in the Lewes area, including St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was a member.
Burial was private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, where she was laid to rest with her late husband, Ronald Fogerty.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of choice.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her steadfast Christian faith, her delicious cooking and baking, and her delightful sense of humor will always be remembered by her family and friends.
