Cat & Mouse Press releases “Beach Holidays” short stories anthology

Cat & Mouse Press of Lewes announced the release of “Beach Holidays,” a collection of 27 short stories featuring a variety of holidays and set in Rehoboth Beach.

Stories in the book are winners of the 2022 Rehoboth Beach Reads Short Story Contest. A panel of six judges made the selections. The book is available from Browseabout Books, the contest sponsor, and other bookstores.

Stories in the book include: “Death by Chocolate” (Valentine’s Day), “It Was a Good Friday to Fly a Kite” (Easter), “Fourth of July Fundango,” “Home for the Hallow Days” (one of three Halloween stories), “Labor (Day) of Love,” “The Hannukah Bush of Rehoboth,” and “Tidings Of Comfort and…Lizards?!” (Christmas). In addition to other common holidays such as Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, there are also stories about National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, Pi Day and even some made-up holidays.

“Beach Holidays” is the 10th book in the popular, award-winning Rehoboth Beach Reads series. The books always feature a diverse array of stories by various authors, include many genres, and range from poignant to hilarious. In short, there’s something for everyone. Priced at $15.95, the books make ideal gifts and stocking stuffers.

A party to celebrate the book’s publication will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Lewes Public Library. The event is free, open to the public, and will feature book sales, author signings and refreshments.

The annual Rehoboth Beach Reads Short Story Contest invites writers to submit stories of 500-3,500 words that feature Rehoboth Beach and fit that year’s theme. The theme for 2022 was “Beach Holidays.” Judges for the 2022 contest were Jackson Coppley, Lois Hoffman, Dennis Lawson, Mary Pauer, Dylan Roche and Candace Vessella.
