CDC: Face masks not needed anywhere by those vaccinated

May 13, 2021

Centers for Disease Control Director Rochelle Walensky updated guidance May 13, allowing fully vaccinated people return to pre-pandemic activities without wearing a face covering.

“Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or social distancing,” she said during a CDC press conference May 13. “If you are fully vaccinated you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic.”

Immune-compromised and unvaccinated people are still at risk, she said, and should still wear face masks.

Gov. John Carney has said Delaware follows CDC guidance, but he has not yet issued an update on mask wearing in Delaware.
