Charles E. Aldrich, proud Navy veteran
Charles E. Aldrich, 82, of Lewes, formerly of Westbrook, Conn., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Atlantic Shores Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro.
Chuck was born in Springfield, Mass., June 22, 1934, son of the late Everett and Dorothea (Pidgeon) Aldrich. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He retired in 1986 after 20 years of service from L.C. Doane in Essex, Conn. Chuck attended the Midway Baptist Church in Lewes. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dean Aldrich in 1985; and two sisters, Judi Blais and Betty Mae Aldrich. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gladys (Hadder) Aldrich; a daughter, Debra Aldrich of Killingworth, Conn.; two grandchildren, Melinda Tottle and Alicia Tottle; and four great-grandchildren, Brittanni Tottle-Palmieri, Malik Shipman Jr., Destiny Rose Tottle and Dante James Tottle.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 3, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may gather after noon. Interment will be private.
