Civil Unions and Beyond: Discussion of LGBT equality in Delaware Dec. 8

December 3, 2012

Integrity Delaware, an Episcopal Church LGBT advocacy group, is hosting a morning with attorney Lisa Goodman to review Delaware’s Civil Union law and what the future may hold.

The meeting will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Church of the Ascension Parish Hall, 3719 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont (parking is in the rear of the church). A light lunch will follow the discussion.

Goodman is a partner with the Wilmington firm of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor LLP, where she has practiced for 18 years. In addition to her practice, she has worked on LGBT equality issues since her admission to the bar. She actively lobbied on behalf of LGBT nondiscrimination legislation, and against attempts to amend Delaware’s constitution to prohibit marriage equality.

In 2009, Goodman became a founder and president of Equality Delaware Inc. In 2011, she led Equality Delaware’s successful efforts to draft, lobby for and pass the Civil Union and Equality Act of 2011. Equality Delaware has also successfully advocated for legislative and regulatory changes to anti-bullying, Medicaid estate recovery and gender identity changes to state identification documents.
