The Cape Gazette has received hundreds of amazing photographs since rolling out the Community Showcase feature some 17 years ago. Few submissions, however, rise to the level of not one but three images so stunning we just have to share all of them. Richard Diefenbeck sent a trio of photos of eagles taken recently at Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge near Smyrna.
Once classified as endangered, bald eagles were upgraded to “threatened” in 1995 and removed from the list altogether in 2007. The national bird of the United States is now a frequent sight in Delaware, mostly in rural areas where the majestic birds of prey can find plenty of mammals and fish to eat.
