Looking to gather more attention for his wide selection of Turkish towels, Coastal Hobo owner David Posner is moving his store to Rehoboth Avenue.

A pharmacist by trade, Posner started Coastal Hobo 15 years ago, attending open-air markets in Maryland and Delaware. He opened his first storefront in 2019 on North First Street in Rehoboth Beach. During a recent interview, he said the lease on that location ended, and he decided he wanted to move to Rehoboth Avenue.

Coastal Hobo’s new home will be one of the Avenue’s newest retail opportunities – the building that was most recently home to Creative Impressions. The storefront has been split into two retail locations, said Posner.

“Hundreds and hundreds of people walk down Rehoboth Avenue during the day in the summer,” said Posner, on why he wanted to move. “We’re beginning to make a name for ourselves, and this will increase our exposure.”

Posner’s Turkish textiles collection includes towels, blankets and robes in various sizes, colors and thicknesses. He is confident in his product.

“Once you’ve tried a Turkish towel, you’ll never go back,” he said. “You know what I mean?”

Posner has a direct connection to Turkey for his towels. He said his business partner’s uncle owns the factory in Turkey where the goods are made.

In addition to Turkish towels, Coastal Hobo has a wide selection of soy candles that burn clean and are paraffin free. There’s no black soot, said Posner, estimating there are 30 different scents in two different sizes for customers.

Coastal Hobo also has beach bags from Sea Bags of Maine and a wide selection of fun beach hats.
