Toys for Tots seeks donations through Dec. 16

This year’s Toys for Tots campaign by Nassau DE, the local campaign organization of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, is winding down for the year, but help from Sussex County neighbors is still needed to ensure that no child is overlooked this Christmas. Until Wednesday, Dec. 16, donors can leave a new, unwrapped toy at any drop-off location listed at nassau-de.com. Toys also can be shipped directly to Toys for Tots, 32446 West Baltimore Court, Millsboro, DE 19966. The number of requests received by Nassau DE this year greatly surpassed last year’s 3,000 kids. While organizers still anticipate being able to meet every request, the hope is to keep the number of toys distributed per child from decreasing. The Toys for Tots Foundation and Nassau DE LCO extend thanks to all for their contributions, as do the children who receive them. Volunteers report that families and kids who receive donations are grateful for the Christmas spirit displayed at this time of year.

Delaware Tech distance learning to continue for spring 2021

Delaware Tech has announced plans for its spring 2021 academic semester, taking into account coronavirus concerns. The college will remain in its current format, primarily distance learning with select sections of skills labs on campus. It will continue to provide targeted student support services on its campuses for those who need to access that assistance in person, and will continue to support faculty through professional development and additional resources, to enable them to provide the highest-quality distance learning experience.

“While this is clearly disappointing and frustrating to many students, their families and college employees, this decision is made with health and safety, first and foremost, being our primary consideration,” said Dr. Mark T. Brainard, Delaware Tech president. “The timing of this announcement will allow us to spend these valuable weeks planning and preparing for next year.”
