Community hosts Fischer for memoir-writing workshop

Local author Maribeth Fischer recently facilitated a memoir-writing workshop hosted by members of the Hawthorne community near Georgetown. The event was well attended, drawing 19 neighbors and guests, writers and non-writers alike.

Founder and executive director of the Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild, Fischer provided easy and engaging exercises to help participants get started on their memoir journeys, whether working on stories for their families or complete life narratives. Her focus in writing memoir was the emphasis on detail, as details enable readers to connect with the story.

This was the second time Fischer was part of Hawthorne’s author talk series, which brings local writers, their books and their talents to the community.
