Contractors staging beach replenishment

Like a fork holding a rigatoni noodle, the prong on this heavy duty tractor’s grapple moves steel pipe from the Deauville Beach parking lot in Rehoboth Beach out to the beach for beach replenishment. The project is expected to begin Saturday, April 8, and will be a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation when it does. After Rehoboth, the contractor will move south to Dewey Beach.
With the Star of the Sea Condominiums in the background, a pipe that’s going to be used for beach replenishment has been laid on the beach.
It’s tough to tell in the photo, but this pipe is roughly two feet across.

Pretty soon these vehicles will be on the beach helping with the sand moving process.
This y-connection allows the contractor to split the sand coming from the ocean and put two rows of pipe on the wide parts of the beach.
