County Bank has named Clay Serman as its chief lending officer and senior vice president.

He will oversee County Bank’s commercial, residential and business banking operations. Serman has 15 years of experience and has held senior banker positions with locally owned community banks as well as larger regional banks.

Serman joined County Bank in 2010 to develop its credit department. Eventually, he was promoted to vice president and commercial loan officer, and remained at County Bank until 2018.

"Banking in Sussex County has given me the opportunity to work with clients of all types,” he said. “I am very excited to return to County Bank. It is exciting to be part of a locally owned bank with such a strong reputation in the business community by actively serving their community. I’ve come full circle.”

A past president of the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, Serman is currently board vice president for Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth.

Serman holds an MBA from Thomas Jefferson University and a bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University. He grew up in Georgetown, and currently lives in Lewes with his wife and two daughters.
