Crooked Hammock getting into local holiday spirit
It may be almost December, but at the newly opened Crooked Hammock Brewery and Restaurant, it’s always Hammock season. Co-owner and General Manager Rich Garrahan has announced that the new facility will be taking part in the 84th Annual Lewes Christmas Parade Saturday, Dec. 5.
“Since we opened last month, we have been so warmly welcomed by so many people in and around Lewes, and we’re hoping that they will come out and see our ‘perfectly imperfect’ Hammock float this year,” says Garrahan. In keeping with the parade theme, “Christmas in Bloom”, the float will have a hammock hanging between two palm trees with a surprising message-- The Crooked Hammock’s “New Year’s Eve Keg Drop” to usher in 2016. “Come cheer us on,” says this enthusiastic beer boss. After the parade, the keg will be suspended in the dining room until the big Keg Drop on New Year’s Eve.
“Who needs the ball in Times Square?” laughs Garrahan. “Dropping a keg at midnight is perfect for our ‘imperfect inaugural New Year’s party!” he adds. “We want the community to come out and have fun.”
He invites both parade participants and watchers to join his team at The Hammock following the tree lighting and caroling in Zwaanendael Park. “We have a special kids menu and plenty of choices for parents, too.”
He points out that Crooked Hammock is also a good place to do Christmas shopping. “We have a terrific selection of exclusive clothing and collectibles in our Hammock Shop. There’s something for everyone on your list, including crowlers and growlers. A Crooked Hammock Gift Certificate is a perfect fit for everyone on your holiday list,” adds Garrahan.
Kids will want to bring their parents, and their wish list, to Crooked Hammock Sunday, Dec. 13, to enjoy a lively brunch with Santa. The delicious family-friendly brunch buffet will be served from 9 a.m. to noon, and the Big Guy will be on hand to hear what is on every child’s list.
This special Brunch with Santa is $14 for adults, and kids eat for half price. Garrahan is quick to point out that “You can really get into the holiday spirit by bringing a new unwrapped toy for our Toys for Tots community gift box. And there’s a nice ‘thank you’ bonus. For everyone who brings a toy, we’ll thank them with a free gift certificate for a Crooked Hammock dinner in 2016,” says Garrahan.
Happy Hours have begun at the Hammock, Monday through Friday starting at 2:30, p.m. Take a break from holiday shopping to enjoy half price apps in the bar until 5:30 p.m.
After all the gifts are wrapped, unwind and relax before the big day by enjoying a laid back, relaxing Christmas Eve dinner until 8 p.m. with friends and family at the Crooked Hammock. The restaurant will be closed on Christmas Day so employees can enjoy the day with their families.
Chris Wright, Crooked Hammock brew master, has developed a special brew for the very first New Year’s Eve party. “We are dropping the first brew keg of the new year at midnight January 1, 2016,” says Wright. “I hope the people will come out to enjoy my custom brew that I made exclusively for just this one night.”
“Tickets are $95 each which includes an open bar, party food stations, live music by UFO - Universal Funk Order, and dancing in the tent. It all begins at 9 p.m.,” says Garrahan who says he expects the party will sell out quickly. “My best advice is don’t wait; get your tickets now,” he adds. Tickets for this event are limited and may be purchased at www.crookedhammock.com.
“We are so happy to be in Lewes, and want our new home to be a place to escape the holiday madness, as well as to celebrate the joys of the season with friends, families and co-workers,“ says Garrahan. But more importantly, he hopes that the residents of Lewes, Rehoboth and all of Delmarva will consider the Crooked Hammock their own place to unwind and relax any day of the week, any time of the year.
