Looking to raise awareness for the mustang horse and the American Discovery Trail, Hannah Catalino and Lisanne Fear, along with a few of their favorite mustangs, took off Sept. 28 from Herring Point in Cape Henlopen State Park on a cross-country adventure. Field correspondent Jacqueline Taylor will be covering the coast-to-coast journey.

Called the Mustang Discovery Ride, and presented by the Mustang Heritage Foundation, the pair’s adventure will take them west through Maryland in October and then into West Virginia. The plan is to continue as long as the weather cooperates, resume when the weather warms up again, and then finish in California sometime in 2022. Catalino, Fear and their mustangs Rosette, Phin and Chileno are anticipated to be at Meadowbrook Stables in Chevy Chase, Md., for a meet-and-greet Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The American Discovery Trail begins in Cape Henlopen State Park and ends in Limantour Beach, Calif.

The Mustang Discovery Ride is a nonprofit journey on horseback across America to inspire adoptions of living legends. The group is working to help people discover how truly incredible these wild horses are by trekking 5,000 miles across America to inspire the adoption of 5,000 mustangs.

The Mustang Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to facilitating successful placements of America’s excess wild horses and burros through innovative programs, events and education.
