Cuvée Ray Wine Bar & Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach has temporarily closed for renovations to its operations.

According to an Oct. 5 post on Facebook by owner Ray Kurz, Cuvée Ray was closing for the season Oct. 6, “to see how we can best provide the exceptional wine and dining experience we dreamed of when opening. We thank you for a great start to the Cuvée Ray story and look forward to seeing you next year.” The same message is also posted to the restaurant’s Rehoboth Avenue front door. The answering machine for the restaurant is a recording of Kurz saying it’s closed for the season and will reopen in the spring.

In an email, Oct. 8, Kurz said he didn’t have much to add to the Facebook post. “We are taking a pause to figure out how to reconfigure and improve our operations to get them in line with everything that I want Cuvée Ray to be. We are planning to reopen when we get this figured out, and are looking at the Spring as a target,” he said.

The business, located in the old Pig and Fish space, opened in July 2018. In May, Cuvée Ray opened its Rosé Garden. The building previously was also home to former restaurants Astral Plane and Sydney’s.

Several acts scheduled to appear at Cuvee Ray’s for jazz fest weekend are now appearing elsewhere. Go to bit.ly/35dB5zM for updated jazz festival listings.
