November 23, 2023

Delaware Transit Corporation announced DART’s 26th annual Stuff The Bus Thanksgiving Food Drive collected 10.5 tons (21,000 pounds) of food.

The week-long food drive took place Nov. 6-11 at the Safeway stores in Rehoboth Beach and Dover, Milford Walmart, and at Rodney Square in Wilmington and the ShopRite stores upstate.

“Our annual Stuff The Bus food drive is another example of how DelDOT gives back to the communities we serve,” said Nicole Majeski, Delaware Department of Transportation secretary. “We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event a success to support the Food Bank of Delaware.”

John Sisson, DTC CEO, said, “This was our 26th year of Stuff The Bus, and I’m proud of the DTC, DelDOT and DMV employees, business partners, bus riders and the community, whose generous donations will help out their fellow Delawareans in need of food assistance.”

Donations were received from the general public, as well as businesses, schools, organizations and state agencies throughout Delaware, including employees from DART, DelDOT, DMV and the toll plazas. DART organizers thank all their partners, with a special thank you to Sharp Energy, which donated a total of $5,000 worth of food that was loaded onto a DART propane autogas paratransit bus.
